On April 16, a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the South American nation of Ecuador. There is a group of concerned Essex County College staff & students (Latin Student Union) who want to participate in the ongoing relief effort for that nation, still struggling to recover. Collection boxes have been placed all around the College for staff and students to drop off donations. The collection efforts will continue through Friday, May 13. A shipping container will be delivered to the College for loading on Saturday, May 14, prior to transportation of the items to Ecuador. A special thank you to Dr. Christopher Rivera, Chair of the Division of Humanities, for allowing space in the Red Area to be used as the College’s main drop off location.
Monetary donations are also appreciated and will be collected by Rosa Reyes & Sonia Rios-Cardoso for deposit into the relief fund for Ecuador at the College. The monies will be used to buy supplies to ship to Ecuador. Below is a partial list of the items recommended for donations.
